Happy camper－－快乐的露营者？这个短语的意义是“高兴的人、心满意足的人”，这是为什么呢？

　Happy camper最早出现在上世纪80年代，描述的是一个参加夏令营的小孩子，在团结互助的集体活动中感受到了团队精神的魅力，带着沉甸甸的收获快乐归来。
后来，人们常用not a happy camper来形容那些“不愿意与人合作的人”。多有讽刺和贬低的意味。

　　来看一个例子，老板对中国员工辛迪说：“Cindy, you was not a happy camper yesterday.”辛迪却莫名其妙地看着老板说：“我昨天没出去露营呀，我一直在办公室。”老板笑了起来，原来他的意思是Cindy昨天因为某件事情心情不好，不太愿意和人合作。

　　Cost an arm and a leg表示“耗资不菲，付出过高代价”，这仅仅是一个简单的比喻而已，用失去人体四肢中最重要的“两肢”来比喻“付出昂贵代价”。

　　这个流传已久的比喻本无深意，也已无年代和创始人可考，但奇怪的是，其最早的书面形式却直到1956年才出现在20世纪上半期当红女星比莉• 好乐黛（Billie Holiday）的自传《Lady Sings the Blues》，她在书中写道：“Finally she found someone who sold her some stuff for an arm and a leg.”显然，好乐黛并不是这个短语的发明者，只是随手拿来用了，但她的小说确实为这个短语做了免费宣传，使之进一步发扬光大。

　　Cost and arm and a leg很可能脱胎于另一个古老的说法“I'd give my right arm for”，后者可以追溯到19世纪中叶，表示说话人愿意为某事做出巨大牺牲。由“一只右臂”发展到“一臂一腿”，看来还真的是“舍不得孩子套不住狼”啊。

I'm just studying New Orient Business Spoken Engish these days, I met a sentence "But I imagine maintaining my new look will cost me an arm and a leg.", I learn the detailed description about this phrase from this note, it's very valuable!

LZ请不要随便用“just",这是中国人说英文常出的错误，有生硬地把中文语气翻成英文的嫌疑。直接“I'm studying..."或者考虑到后面"met"的时态用“I was studying..."就可以表达了！

“met"这个词的选用也不很恰当，人可以met,句子怎么和你met? 有点把句子和人相提并论的感觉。可以考虑用“came across", "come across"的过去时。

还有好像你的英文不太注重时态，象后面的“learn"和"It's"严格的讲应因为met应写成“learned or/ learnt" 和"It was"，要不在句子了不要出现时态，都用现在时态，还清楚一点。
